  1. Install Lace Roll Up Shades

    • 1

Determine where to place the brackets. You may want an assistant to help you with this step. With the shade rolled up, hold it up in the window casing, so that the shade is about 1/4 inch below the top of the window. Make a light mark on the casing where the metal tip of the roller shade protrudes. Set the shade aside.Place one bracket against the window casing so that the mark you just made shows through the hole where the shade attaches. You can identify this hole by the large circle or indentation that surrounds it. The other holes are sized for the screws. Move the bracket toward, away from the window, keeping the hole where the shade attaches at the same level as the mark you made, until it is nearly at the edge of the window casing. Make a light mark on the window casing through one of the screw holes. Put the bracket aside.

    • 2

Hang the first bracket.Drill a small starter hole (not more than 1/4 inch deep) on the last mark you made in Step 1. Hold the bracket back up in the window casing with the starting hole showing through the same screw hole you used to make the mark. Turn a screw into the hole, but do not tighten it completely. Make sure the bracket is straight, then drill starter holes in the remaining screw holes. Turn screws into the remaining holes.Once all the screws are in, tighten them completely.

Measure for and hang the second bracket.Take measurements from the top of the side casing to the top of the installed bracket, and from the rear of the casing, or front of the glass, to the rear edge of the installed bracket. Using those measurements, mark a line on the opposite side of the window casing where the top of the second bracket should go, as well as where the rear of the second bracket should go. Hold the bracket against the lines you just made and make a mark on the window casing through one of the screw holes. Follow the instructions in Step 2 to finish hanging the second bracket.

    • 4

Install lace roll up shade by pushing the rolled up shade into the brackets. The metal "pins" at the end should pop into the holes in the center of the brackets. Sit back and enjoy your beautiful new lace roll up shades!

Tips & Warnings

  • If you don't have a drill handy, you can use a hammer and nail to start the holes for the screws. Just hammer the nail a small way in, and then remove it.

  • Make sure you install the shade far enough away from the window and top of the casing that it doesn't touch when completely rolled up. If it touches or rubs it will be difficult to raise and lower.
