Few women want to turn down the honor of being a bridesmaid in a friends wedding, but if the cost of the bridesmaid clothing is too expensive, they may have to. For this reason, a bride needs to be able to reassure a bridesmaid that you will do your best to consider her budget when dressing the bridal party. Here are instructions on how to dress a bridal party inexpensively.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate
Step1
Look for matching dresses in department stores. Small to medium bridal parties can easily go into a bridal store and find the same dress in different sizes. Even the simplest dresses look great in duplicate.
Step2
Choose a very pretty blouse instead of a dress and let each person wear her own skirt, or even slacks in an assigned color. For a formal wedding, you can choose a matching sequined top or halter for each bridesmaid.
Step3
Purchase regular dresses or suits. For a casual beach wedding, you may want to consider matching $10.00 sundresses and matching flip-flops. For a formal more formal wedding just tell each person to wear their own dress in black or red, and give each person a coordinating shawl, jewelry, and/or corsage.
Step4
Shop at online discount stores. There are online discount stores that sell bridesmaid and other formal dresses at discount prices. Check out angeldelivers.com and discountdressup.com.
Step5
Consider online performance wear stores. There are websites that sell matching formal dresses that are used for choirs and musician groups. They are very nice dresses that also happen to be well made and hand washable. They can make great bridesmaid dresses and can easily become part of a person’s wardrobe. A site to look at is southeastern-performance-apparel.com. The color choices may be limited to black, red, blue and white, but the styles are classic.

Tips & Warnings

  • Let each person select her own shoe choices, but let them know of discounts you come across.
  • Don't solicit the ideas of too many people as it may cause confusion.
