Whether you need a quick dish that is made to impress, or just a great meal to get you off your feet and in your seat at the couch, this casserole is a sure-fire winner.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Roll of sausage (your choice of spiciness)
  • 1 pkg. frozen Potatoes O'Brien (diced hash browns will work in a pinch)
  • 2 TBS flour
  • 1 1/2 cups milk (or if you are going totally shameful 1 cup of milk and 1/2 cup of heavy cream - you can even go all the way shame!)
  • 1 8 oz pkg shredded cheese (colby, colby/jack, cheddar)
  • A side salad or green vegetable
  • A table full of hungry people that are not diet crazed
Step1
Brown sausage in skillet
Step2
Add 2 TBS flour and stir with wooden spatula to keep from sticking to skillet
Step3
No, Not That Cream! Add 1 1/2 cups of milk and stir to make the gravy
(For a much richer casserole, you can substitute as much of the milk as you wish with heavy cream - To Die For!)
Step4
Place Potatoes O'Brien into a casserole dish
Add 1/2 of the package of cheese (4 oz)
Add the sausage gravy
Mix all together
Step5
Sprinkle the entire casserole with the remaining 4 oz of cheese.
Pop into pre-heated 350 degree oven for 30 minutes.

Tips & Warnings

  • Let the casserole rest for about 5 - 10 minutes before cutting into
  • Serve with a leafy salad or a green vegetable for a beautiful presentation
  • This is not low calorie
  • This is not low fat
  • This is not low in carbs
  • This is highly addictive
