    How to Draw Boxes

  1. Step 1

To draw a simple three-dimensional box, draw a small square inside a bigger square. Draw lines from the corners of the smaller square to the corners of the bigger square.

  2. Step 2

To draw a box in perspective, draw a short line with a longer line in front of it. Connect the two lines with lines. Then add a rectangle to the larger line as shown in the example.

  3. Step 3

On both boxes, make sure that the lines are straight and the proportions are correct for your drawing.

  4. Step 4

Add shading to the box to make it have depth. The side closest to the light source should be lighter than the side that is further away.

Tips & Warnings
  • With both boxes, remember to think about the shape you need to make an object with the box before you draw it.
