A lawn duster is a great tool to economically and thoroughly spread pesticides in your yard. The lawn duster helps you apply a uniform amount of pesticide in as small an amount as necessary to prevent over application. The fine mist produced by the lawn duster is easy to apply under yard debris such as leaves and in narrow cracks. Follow these steps to properly load your lawn duster prior to pesticide application.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Lawn duster
  • Gloves
  • Dust mask
  • Safety goggles
  • Pesticide dust
  1. Step 1

Protect yourself with gloves, safety goggles and a dust mask. The pesticide dust can be irritating to your skin and eyes, and harmful if inhaled when loading the lawn duster hopper.

  2. Step 2

Read the instructions for your lawn duster to learn how it operates, what kind of pesticide dust you can use in it, and how much pesticide dust can be loaded in the hopper.

  3. Step 3

    Open the hopper lid.

  4. Step 4

Pour pesticide dust slowly into the lawn duster hopper. The dust is more likely to become airborne or spill if you pour too quickly.

  5. Step 5

    Close the hopper lid carefully.

  6. Step 6

Clean and safely discard any pesticide dust that spilled while loading the lawn duster hopper.

Tips & Warnings
  • Load your lawn duster hopper on sheets of newspaper to catch any spilled pesticide dust. Clean up is as quick as rolling up and discarding the newspaper.
  • Never handle pesticides of any kind without proper skin, eye and mouth protection. Pesticide dust can easily become airborne and be inhaled or settle on skin.
  • Always read the product instructions and warnings on any package of pesticide dust prior to using the product.
