Things You'll Need:
- At least three, people One or Two guitars, a bass guitar, and a set of drums.
-
Step 1
You'll need to gather at least three people. A singer, a guitarist, a bassist, and a drummer. The singer can always be guitarist or the bassist can be a singer as well. You can have four people, five people, six people, seven people, but I myself am in a rock band, and I would highly, highly, highly recommend to not have more than seven people. Way to hard of a band to manage.
-
Step 2
You'll need to get the band together to come up with a band name for you and your band mates. Obviously it has to be original. Think of a variety of names with different themes. (i.e. Animals, Objects, questions.) You can use a question as a band name to. e.g. "Do you need a friend?" maybe that's a little corny, but along those lines. Best to avoid something to dark or challenging like "Can I come to your funeral?"
-
Step 3
Writing songs is obviously very important. Best for little gigs, like bars, or coffee shop, to play premade songs. e.g. Iron Man, or Smoke on the water. Stuff like that. Then when you get more experience, you can start performing your own songs.
-
Step 4
To get gigs you could try advertising on the Internet for your band. Or you could go to a coffee shop or a bar and ask the owner if he would be willing to let you and your band perform there.

on 12/11/2008 This might seem irrelevant but I'm trying to start an online merch shop for my band. I was wondering (hopefully someone who is reading this has a clue) if anyone sells online already and has some suggestions.
I checked out some of the ecommerce articles but pretty much kept finding the same sites. As i've said im leaning towards this snapjar.com site but am trying to get suggestions. Thanks!
