This article is full of ideas to help ease the pain of having to work while pregnant.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Warm bath
  • BioFreeze (available at Chiropractor's offices)
  • A caring boss
  • A chair to sit in
  1. Step 1

If you are lucky enough to have a caring and compassionate boss, thank your lucky stars. While I was pregnant, I had a job where I had to stand up for 6 hours straight on a concrete floor. My boss didn't seem to care that I was carrying 30 extra pounds, and it was hard to get him to ease up a little bit. The truth is, your body needs special treatment while pregnant. If staying at home isn't a luxury you have right now, try to work something out where you can sit down when you need to. Even if it's just for a few minutes, it will help. If you have a job where you are constantly sitting, bring in an ottoman of some type to put your feet up.

  2. Step 2

Get a pedicure once a week. This is very important. Not only is it relaxing, but it helps with the circulation flowing through your feet and legs. If you can't afford the luxury of a weekly pedicure, enlist your sister, mom, friend, or even husband to give you one. You can mix up some Epsom salt in your warm bath water and soak your feet in it every night after work. This will do wonders. Check with your doctor before getting a spa pedicure.

  3. Step 3

If you can, visit the chiropractor. The first time I visited one while pregnant, I swear I fell in love. It was amazing! My back pain was completely gone. It came back, of course, but that's what regular maintenance appointments are for. Even if you just go once a month, it's definitely worth it. The office up the road from my place only charges $45 a visit. It's WELL worth it if it cures your back pain.

  4. Step 4

Pick up some BioFreeze from the chiropractor's (or physician's) office. I got the roll-on kind because it's less messy and you can do it yourself. If you can't get any BioFreeze, try Icy Hot or something similar and rub it on the painful areas of your back, shoulders, etc. Do not exceed 4 times a day, and check with your doctor before doing this.

  5. Step 5

Last, but not least, drink PLENTY of water! I know you always hear it, and probably dread having to drink another drop, but it truly does help! It will help with headaches, dizziness, etc. If you complete all of these steps and are still having pains that are too much to bear, contact your doctor for other ideas. Remember, pregnancy might SEEM like it lasts forever, but it doesn't!! You'll be out of the woods before you know it!
