Things You'll Need:
- A sense of humor.
- Lots of energy.
- A creative mind.
- Patience by the busload!
-
Step 1
Get real! After a long, hard day of picking up dirty shoes, repeating myself several times and tripping over jock straps, I sometimes imagine that a life with daughters would magically make my house neat, tidy, and quiet. Then I call up my friend, who has two teenage daughters, and she sets me straight! Remind yourself daily that girls are not any easier than boys to raise.
-
Step 2
Get support! Find a friend that has only boys to commiserate with. There are even sites online where you can go to find someone to talk to about your all-boy, all-the-time life. Only someone who has been there understands what it's like to always lose when the family votes on what movie to see, food to eat, or activity to participate in.
-
Step 3
Get with the grossness! Embrace the goofiness of boys. Learn how to make silly faces, fart with your armpits, and play in the dirt. After all, if you can't beat them, join them! They will respect and love you all the more for it.
-
Step 4
I am the Queen! Obey me!Get with the pink! Be the Queen! Don't go too far when embracing the goofiness of boys. They need to be reminded that you are female, and as such, need to be treated with respect. You are the only person in their lives who can teach them how to treat a woman. Teach them to carry things for you, hold the door for you, and respect your opinions. Remember that you want them to pick a wife who will make a very good daughter-in-law!
-
Step 5
Get on with your life! Sure, it's hard sometimes, when people ask you if you are going to "try one more time", or if they say to you, "Don't you wish you had a daughter?" I usually smile and tell them that my heart is full of my wonderful sons! Who could ask for anything more?
