If you enjoy stamping, one technique you can try is called repetition stamping. This technique makes it appear as though the object you're stamping is moving across the page. This method could help you tell a story with stamps, or just add a bit of visual interest to your craft.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Stamp
  • Ink pad
  • Paper
Step1
Choose a stamp that represents something you would like to see moving across the page. You should choose something that actually does move, such as a butterfly, bird, animal or bug, as opposed to something that does not move, such as a tree.
Step2
Decide if you want your object to move right or left across the page. If you want it to move right, you need to place the first stamp on the far right of the page. If it should appear to be moving left, place the first stamp on the left side of the page.
Step3
Press your stamp it onto an ink pad of whatever color you choose.
Step4
Place the stamp on the paper or card, pressing firmly to get the entire stamp touching the page.
Step5
Lift the stamp and move it slightly over to the side, overlapping your first stamp, and press the stamp down again. Make sure you do not re-ink your stamp before stamping the second or third time.
Step6
Repeat the Step 5 by lifting the stamp, moving it over slightly and pressing it down again. Make sure all three stamps are equally spaced. Now it will appear as if your object is running or flying across the page.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can use repetition stamping with any stamp. Try using a flower stamp without overlapping. It will look like you have three different shades of the same flower. Get creative with repetition stamping to come up with beautiful designs.
