Things You'll Need:
- Stake or screwdriver (to secure your kite)
-
Step 1
Remove the casing. If there is one, carefully remove the kite from its casing, being careful not to damage the fabric or other components.
-
Step 2
Stake the handles. In order to prevent your kite from flying away during setup, use a stake to hold the kite down. Be sure to plant the stakes firmly in the ground to prevent any surprise fly-aways.
-
Step 3
Feed the lines. Without dropping the kite or its looped lines, walk in a down-wind direction from the kite while feeding the lines out. Be sure to straighten any tangles in the lines.
-
Step 4
Unfold the kite. At this time, simply follow the assembly instructions provided with your kite; that is, if any assembly is required.
-
Step 5
Connect the lines. Begin by attaching the bottom line (also known as the brake line) to the proper connections. Then, holding the kite in an inverted position so that its underside is exposed, attach the right and left lines to their proper connection points on the bridle.
-
Step 6
Get ready to fly. Once the lines have all been properly connected, stand the kite up by picking up the leading edge of the kite. The wind should catch and pull the strings tight and you are ready to fly.
