When you're making buttons, you can choose any design you want. That even includes square images. It's fairly easy to transfer a square image onto a button--as long as you know what to do.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Find all the square points or edges where two lines meet on the drawing. Place a small dot on each spot with your pen. These edges will need to be rounded out to fit on the button.

  2. Step 2

Practice turning your hand in a circular motion while holding the pen in your dominant hand. You'll need to connect the sharp edges of the square drawing to make them more rounded, and it's easier to do with a little practice.

  3. Step 3

Take your drawing to a copy store and make several copies. This will give you several copies to work with in case you make a mistake.

  4. Step 4

Place your pen on the first dot and draw a line to the next point using a fluid motion with the pen. The line should look rounded rather than straight.

  5. Step 5

Connect the point you left off at to the next point you have on your image using the same motion.

  6. Step 6

Continue connecting the points on your square image from one to the next using a sweeping motion with your pen. This will allow you to create a round image to fit on a button.

Tips & Warnings
  • Another easy way to fit a square drawing onto a circle is to use a circular cutter designed for scrapbook projects. The cutter allows you to trim down a square shaped image into a round shape perfect for buttons.
  • You can also use a round shape as a pattern. Find a round shape the same size as your button; tupperware lids and canned food are a couple of possibilities. Places your round shape over your design. Then trace the outline of the shape and you'll have a round image to fit on your button.
