Shadowbox frames are thick frames that allow you to display objects like collectible miniatures or meaningful items from a loved one. The frames are typically several inches thick to provide you space to arrange your objects in an attractive manner for display.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Look at each of the objects you want to include in your shadowbox frame. If there are chips, tarnished spots or damaged areas you want to hide, turn the object so that portion faces the back of the shadowbox frame.

  2. Step 2

Choose the centerpiece from the objects you're including in your shadowbox frame and place it in an area of importance. If it's a long, thin item, consider placing it corner to corner.

  3. Step 3

Consider lining the back of your shadowbox frame with fabric or pretty paper. Choose fabric or paper that provides a pretty background for your items, not one that competes with or hides the things you want to showcase in your shadowbox frame.

  4. Step 4

Place objects on the back of the shadowbox as well as on the floor to create balance and harmony in your final arrangement.

  5. Step 5

Arrange your objects so unusual or pretty details show. Try tipping things on their sides or leaning the lid to a container up against the container itself to showcase the set. Play with the arrangement until you find the perfect home for each item.

Tips & Warnings
  • Consider the value of the things you're thinking of adding to your shadowbox frame. Once your object is attached to the shadowbox, it's a permanent application. Make sure you're not decreasing the value of an antique.
