How to Sew Ribbon to the Upper Half of a Doll Sleeping Bag

Creating a baby doll sleeping bag is a wonderful way to accessorize your child's toy collection. Hopefully by this point, you have created a functioning sleeping bag that only needs a few touches to really be perfect for your child. Sewing a ribbon around the upper half of a sleeping bag creates a beautiful border and a touch of realism that your child will love.

Instructions

1. Measure the top half of your doll's sleeping bag. Roll out your ribbon and measure off the exact same amount. Lightly mark the ribbon with a pencil. Cut the ribbon along those lines.

2. Pin the ribbon of your choice to the upper half of your child's sleeping bag. Choose a color or pattern that compliments the fabric the bag is created from. Ideally, this ribbon will provide a sense of balance to the doll's sleeping bag.

3. Round the edges of the ribbon to fold over both sides of the fabric and create a border. This is not only easier than having a straight edge but also looks much nicer and professional.

4. Begin sewing with your machine 1/2 inch from the edge. Choose a ribbon wide enough to accommodate this step. Sewing too close to the edge will lead to fraying and loose threads.

5. Check all stitching to ensure that you have closed the ends properly and that nothing is out of line along the trim.
