Fun doll clothes and accessory sewing projects are great for a mom and daughter to do together. Create an entire wardrobe for your daughter's dolls. Use the technique of properly sewing the lining and inner materials together to create quality clothes.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Cut the fabric for the inner layer so that it matches up with the quilted fabric and outer shell pre-basted together.

  2. Step 2

    Iron the liner fabric separately.

  3. Step 3

Lay it on top the double layer previously sewn together. The inner liner must lay right side out on top the quilted fabric. Create a layering with the outer liner, quilted fabric and inner liner.

  4. Step 4

Pin all three layers together every few inches.

  5. Step 5

Baste around the edges of the entire garment. Create about a 1/2-inch seam all the way around the three layers of fabric.

  6. Step 6

Iron the three layers together and double-check your seam looking for any uneven edges or bubbles.

Tips & Warnings
  • By sewing the three pieces together separately, you'll get a smoother seam and less chance of uneven edges.
  • If you find any uneven edges or bubbles after ironing, pull the seam out on that side and sew it over again.
  • Lightweight fabrics are easier to work with, but you can use a heavier canvas-type material if you want. If you do use a heavy-duty sewing machine needle, be very careful that your seams don't bunch up while sewing.
