When you are making a garment bag or some other project and wish to jazz it up a little, add some ribbon trim. Ribbon isn't terribly expensive, and yet it can add a striking dash of color. Read this eHow to learn more about pinning on ribbon trim.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Choose the colors of ribbon that you would like to use to decorate your garment bag still further. Grosgrain ribbon works well for such a project because it withstands being washed, and because of its finished edges, is less likely to unravel than other ribbons.

  2. Step 2

Cut the lengths of ribbon that you need when you prepare to pin on ribbon trim. You can do this in two ways: lay the ribbon across the garment bag and cutting the ribbon where it overhangs the garment bag or measuring the width of the garment bag using that measurement to determine the ribbon's length.

  3. Step 3

Lay the ribbon on the garment bag in the place/s you wish.

  4. Step 4

Measure form the bottom of the bag to determine where exactly the ribbon trim will lay, and pin it in place, making the pin go across the ribbon lengthwise so you can sew over it without removing the in with your sewing machine.

  5. Step 5

Do the same with the middle and the other side of the garment bag so that the ribbon will be perfectly straight. Repeat the process with the other ribbons.
