Things You'll Need:
- Two-percent or whole milk
- Flavoring (caramel, vanilla, chocolate or your favorite)
- Coffee cup
- Milk steaming cup
-
Step 1
Select the milk that you will use for the steamer, two-percent or whole. The only difference is the fat content. Whole milk has approximately 3.5 percent milk fat. Pour about 2 cups of milk into the steaming pitcher and prepare the steamer arm to heat the milk. Check the steamer arm to make sure that the aperture is clear and that the steam can escape easily.
-
Step 2
Prepare the coffee cup for the steamed milk. Pour the selected flavoring in the bottom of the cup.
-
Step 3
Steam the milk with minimal froth on the top. The goal is to heat the milk to just below boiling. As the milk reaches this point, it will begin to become airy in consistency. Once the milk has reached this point, pour it into the waiting cup with the flavoring in it. Pour the milk into the cup in such a way as to mix the steamed milk with the flavoring in the bottom of the cup.
-
Step 4
Top the drink with a design and garnish based on the flavoring added to the steamer. An example would be to sprinkle a bit of cocoa powder on the top if you used chocolate syrup and add a few slivers of fresh chocolate to garnish the top.
