When you are done using your pasta maker to craft a certain shape of pasta, you may decide you want to move on and make another. To change shapes using a standard electric pasta maker with a handle and die sets, you need to change out the dies.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Unscrew and remove the attachment that keeps the die on the machine. Electric pasta makers with die sets come with a device that attaches to this piece to make it easier to unscrew; usually, it's a handle you can push.

  2. Step 2

Pry the die off the pasta machine. Pull it off gently. It will have a lot of dough on it, so set it to the side with the dough side up so you can clean it later.

  3. Step 3

Push the dough back into the machine if any was pulled out when you removed the die. Get the dough back into the machine so that you can easily place the die on the pasta maker.

  4. Step 4

Place the new die of your choice onto the machine.

  5. Step 5

Screw the attachment in securely to keep the die on. Screw it on tightly, but not so tight you can't get it back off.

Tips & Warnings
  • Clean the die by scraping off the dough. The parts inside the holes of the die will pop out once they dry completely.
