Things You'll Need:
- 1/2 yard of lining material
- Pencil
- 2 bra pads
- Scissors
- Straight pins
- Needle and thread or sewing machine
-
Step 1
Stretch out the lining material over a flat surface. Lycra lining material is available at craft and fabric stores. Taupe is the most common color used to line a swimsuit, however most stores also carry black.
-
Step 2
Place the bikini top on the lining. Stretch the bikini top out so it lays flat. Trace the outside of the bikini top on the fabric with a pencil. A regular lead pencil will work, but a grease pencil works better.
-
Step 3
Cut the fabric just inside the lines. Only cut out the piece that will cover the breasts. You don't need to line the back of the bikini top.
-
Step 4
Set one bra pad in place for one side of the bikini. Place the lining for that side over the bra pad and pin it into place with straight pins. Fold the edges of the lining under to make it fit into the bikini top.
-
Step 5
Sew a 1/4-inch hem around the outside of the bikini top to attach it to the lining. Cut off any excess thread after the hem is finished.
-
Step 6
Repeat Steps 4 and 5 for the other side of the bikini top.
