Step 1
Pull the load onto the trailer. If your skids have a gripping pattern to them, they will help hold the load. Secure the vehicle onto the skids and rows, so that it won't fall off when you're driving.

Check the carpeting on your skids. You want the carpet to have proper padding and that there aren't any rips or tears in the carpet. The carpet on your trailer makes it easier for you to load your vehicle onto your trailer.

Step 3
Inspect the bolts on your skids. If the bolts are rusted, they can cause the skids to become flimsy and break away from the trailer, damaging your load. Replace rusted bolts.

Step 4
Look at the rollers on your trailer. You want them to move freely. They should roll onto and off of your trailer at ease. If they do not, you will have great difficulty loading and unloading your load, so replace those rollers.
