Many people save money on tire repair by purchasing new tires on their own rather than from a dealer, and installing the new tires by themselves. This process requires a little skill, as you want the tires to be fitted onto the wheels properly.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Roll the new tire near the wheel of your car, and lift it onto the hub. You want the tire to be sitting firmly on all the lug nuts.

  2. Step 2

Grab your lugnuts that go with the wheel. Lugnuts all have an acorn-shaped side and a flat side. Screw the acorn-shaped side of the lugnuts in toward the rim.

  3. Step 3

Tighten the lugnuts the best you can with your fingers, and check to see if the spacing appears all the same around the lugnuts. If the spacing appears a little off on one of them, unscrew it and screw it back on again until the spacing is more uniform.

  4. Step 4

Use a wrench to tighten the lugnuts even more securely onto the wheel.

  5. Step 5

Take your breaker bar and tighten the lugnuts onto the studs as tightly as you can. Your tire will start to spin on the wheel.
