Working on multiple projects at once means making more money. This is a necessity for most freelancers if making a living at what they do is the goal. Organization is essential to being productive and keeping multiple post-production projects straight.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Color code everything. Have a corresponding color for each project. For example, keep everything on project one blue, everything for project two red and project three items yellow. Get highlighter, folders and even paper in these colors.

  2. Step 2

Label each folder in your computer. List either the name of the project or a corresponding number for each folder. Nothing wastes time quicker than searching through folders trying to find the right one when it's needed.

  3. Step 3

Keep notes separate. Depending on your note-taking habits, it's best to keep a separate notebook for each post production project. If you use binders than have either separate binders for each project or use separators to keep notes organized.

  4. Step 4

Separate correspondence with clients and associates. Create folders in your email for each project. File letters away in a filing cabinet with a folder for each project.

  5. Step 5

Use one master calendar so that you do not get dates and times crossed, but color code each project. Once something is written in the calendar, highlight it with the corresponding color.

  6. Step 6

Organize your time as well. Multitasking or doing more than one thing at once is the least productive way to do things. Schedule each and every hour to work on one thing or another. If something happens and you must concentrate on one project, then put the other aside for the moment.
