How to Wear an Accordion

For many people accordions just look like they are fun to play. You might have favorable memories of the music you hear coming from an accordion. You hear people playing accordions at fairs or polkas, but if you want to learn to play one yourself the first step is knowing how to put it on.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Hold the accordion with the straps facing you. The straps appear like reverse backpack straps.

  2. Step 2

    Adjust the straps to fit your body. All accordions come with adjustable straps. Tighten or loosen them to fit your body.

  3. Step 3

    Place your right arm through the strap on your right and your left arm through the strap on your left. Hold the accordion tight up next to your body. Adjust the accordion so the straps are comfortable to you.

  4. Step 4

    Put your left hand in the strap on the left side of the accordion and hold the accordion that way. Release the latch on the accordion with your left thumb, so you can start playing.

  5. Step 5

    Release the latch on the bottom of the accordion with your right hand. Then position your right hand on the accordion keyboard.
