The Marines Hymn is the official hymn for the United States Marine Corps and is the oldest of all the American service songs. It's an easy song to play on the accordion and an excellent practice choice for beginning accordion players because of its recognizable tune.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Accordion
  • Music stand
  • Marine Hymn Sheet Music
  1. Step 1

Find a comfortable location in which to play. Warm up by playing a few scales, until your hands feel flexible and ready to start the song.

  2. Step 2

Move your hand across the keyboard in the chord progression written in the music. The chord progression in this tune goes from C to G to F. If you're a beginner, F may be a new chord for you.

  3. Step 3

Play the song from beginning to end. If you struggle through some areas, play them a few times before you return to the beginning. Improvement is guaranteed when you practice the rough spots. That way, you'll soon play from beginning to end without a hitch.
