Learning how to play the keyboard, or synthesizer, can be a fun and exciting experience. There are many genre options for the synthesizer, and playing in a band gives you more range with the synthesizer. Knowing how to travel with a synthesizer is important, too.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Know all of the components of the synthesizer required to make it function. This includes the keyboard, stand, power source, amp and all the cords. It's also a good idea to always carry the manual along with you. If you have a care book or the contact information of the representative who sold you the equipment, make sure to keep that with you, too.

  2. Step 2

Invest in protective travel bags and covers for all pieces of your equipment. You never know if someone is going to spill something or otherwise damage your equipment, so it is a good idea to keep it covered anytime you are not playing it. Check an instrument store like Guitar Center for protective covers (see Resources below).

  3. Step 3

Use a large vehicle. Don't try to cram everything into a small space. You want to avoid stacking components on each other and turning them on their sides. Make sure they can sit or lay flat. The best way to do this is with a van or covered truck bed with cushioning on the bed.

  4. Step 4

Regulate the environment. As with all electronics, you should be careful about static, temperature and magnets around synthesizers. Keep the vehicle well-regulated, and try to maintain an ideal temperature of 70 degrees F.
