When you are done with your DJ set, it is time to breakdown your equipment and go back to the office or go home. Take your time breaking down your DJ equipment, so you don't damage any of the gear. Breaking down DJ equipment is fairly simple, but you want to do it correctly.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Power off your speakers. This should be the very first thing you do. If you unplug equipment before you power your speakers off, a loud popping noise will occur and could damage your equipment.

  2. Step 2

Unplug all of your equipment. Unplug the speakers, the turntables, the mixing boards and the microphones. Unplug any surge protectors, as well.

  3. Step 3

Disconnect your small items first. Take off the needles from your turntables, and unplug your microphones from your mixers. Unplug your headphones. Put all your small items in their appropriate boxes. It's best if you keep the original packaging of your microphones and headsets, so you have ideal places to keep them when traveling with them from place to place. Put your needles in their kits. You ideally should keep them inside your turntable boxes.

  4. Step 4

Remove the cables connecting your various devices. Pack up the cables for your mixing board and speakers. Coil the cables by wrapping them around the palm of your hand and your elbow. Coiling cables keeps wires from cracking and breaking.

  5. Step 5

Put away all your large equipment including your speakers, turntables, CD players, mixers and computer systems.

  6. Step 6

Put all your equipment in their proper kits and cases. Place your equipment in your vehicle.
