French windows consist of small glass panes held together by strips of wood to form a window or door. You normally see them in traditional architecture. They give a structure character and style. With a few tips, you can make cleaning your French window panes a breeze.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Water
  • Dish detergent
  • Vinegar
  • Container
  • Rag
  • Squeegee

Step1
Put about 3 cups of water in a bucket or small container and add ½ tsp. of dish detergent and ¼ cup of white distilled vinegar. You can increase the amounts; they don't have to be exact. This is a great way to clean glass while avoiding toxic chemicals.
Step2
Dip a small rag in the water and wet your first windowpane.
Step3
Pull a squeegee with an interchangeable blade across the panes they're very filthy and dusty. Snap in your 4-inch blade. Clean the glass starting at the top of the pane and pull down.
Step4
Wipe excess water from the bottom edge of the pane after each stroke with a dry rag or paper towel. Move on to the next pane once you finish the first one.
Step5
Hose down the exterior of the windows. If they're not too dirty, just use your squeegee to dry them.
Step6
Use steel wool to clean the windowpanes. Rub the glass with the steel wool to clean off dirt. This method works well when the glass is not very filthy. Use the small extension on your vacuum cleaner and vacuum any dust left from the steel wool.

Tips & Warnings
