How to Store Leftover Christmas Wrap

When the Christmas season ends, it's time to put away all the decorations, wrapping paper and boxes. Careful packing can organize your things so that next season, finding decorations, wrapping paper and the rest of the Christmas accessories takes less time and goes smoothly.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Shop after the holidays to find the lowest price on plastic storage bins. You can buy clearance-priced wrapping paper for next year too.

  2. Step 2

Buy a tall standing plastic storage bin for storing your rolls of wrapping paper. Choose one with a lid that can be opened from the top, without removing the top, to make taking out a roll of wrapping paper easier. The tall bins hold rolls of any length.

  3. Step 3

Add your other rolls of wrapping paper, those for birthdays, anniversaries or weddings, to the bin if your Christmas paper doesn't fill it completely.

  4. Step 4

Place other nonbreakable items in the bin if there's room for them.

  5. Step 5

Store the bin in your closet for easy access, if there's room, or in the basement if necessary.

Tips & Warnings
  • Although you can find under-the-bed storage organizers for wrapping paper, bows and tags, the tall standing ones have some advantages. They are tall enough to hold the longest rolls of paper, they are easier to access and they fit neatly into a corner of any closet.
  • Plastic bins, unlike cardboard boxes, keep your paper safe from water damage as well as from mice or other pests.
  • If you don't care what color your bin is, you can often find colored ones on sale after different holidays (for example, orange bins after Halloween), especially at discount stores.
