How to Use Your Head in Juggling Three Rings

Juggling is not only a great hobby to learn, it can be turned into a lucrative career with the right skill and marketing capabilities. While basic juggling often includes three balls, expanding from this will make your act more desirable and entertaining. One way to do this is to use your head when juggling three rings.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Learn the basic juggling patterns and skills. Start with three balls that can easily be held in your palms. Use an inward, circular motion keeping one ball in the air at all times, while the other two are either in your hand or just coming in or out of your grasp. This is all about timing, but necessary to branch out.

  2. Step 2

Trade the three balls out for juggling rings. These can be found at most hobby stores and stores that carry magic and performance materials. They are especially designed for juggling and are extremely narrow for air resistance. Practice juggling with the rings until you are comfortable enough to add an element.

  3. Step 3

Practice taking one ring on and off of your head. This involves coming completely over your face to rest around your neck, like a necklace. The rings are not extremely wide, so you need to practice this, as you are likely to hit your nose a few times. Once you have the on-and-off speed up to pattern speed, put it all together.

  4. Step 4

Juggle the rings and get a consistent flow and pattern going. Once you have that down, try placing one of the rings over your head, then taking it off in pattern without losing any of the rings. This will take practice more than a few times. Practice getting the ring on and off, then stopping and starting again. Once you have the speed and accuracy down, you will be able to do this multiple times throughout a performance.
