Things You'll Need:
- Deck of playing cards
- Poker chips or coins
-
Step 1
Begin by explaining that the game is basically 7-card stud. You will be the dealer as you teach the game to the other players.
-
Step 2
Deal two cards face down to all players.
-
Step 3
Place three cards face-up in the center of the table and set the deck, face-down next to them.
-
Step 4
Inform the players of the price of the cards, depending on the betting limits you've established for the game. For example, if the betting limit is a quarter, the first card dealt face-up can be had for free, the second costs 5 cents, the third costs 10 cents, and the face-down card on the top of the deck costs a quarter.
-
Step 5
Give the player on your left a chance to buy one of the face-up cards or the face-down card. The player will study his or her hand and buy a card, which is then placed face-up at that player's position.
-
Step 6
Place the face-down card (if this is the one the player bought), face-down at the player's position. This card will remain face-down throughout the hand.
-
Step 7
Place a new card on the table to replace the one the player bought and allow the next player to buy a card.
-
Step 8
Begin a betting round after each player has chosen a card. The player with the lowest card showing begins betting; if a player has chosen a face-down card, this card is considered to be highest in value.
-
Step 9
Leave the cards that weren't chosen in the center of the table during betting, and use them to begin the next round of card-shopping. Again, the player on the dealer's left goes first.
-
Step 10
Continue with rounds of shopping and betting until all players have six cards. For this and each subsequent round of betting, the player with the highest hand showing bets first.
-
Step 11
Deal a card faced-down to all players, then begin the last round of betting.
