Step 1
Set your tile saw up outside on a flat and level surface.
-
Step 2
Hook up a source of water, such as a garden hose or a large tub of water, according to the manufacturer's instructions. These instructions are included when you rent a tile saw from your home improvement store. If you didn't receive them, request specific instruction on how to hook up the water to keep the blade cool.
-
Step 3
Wait until there is a steady stream of water moving over the blade before you make a cut with your tile saw.
-
Step 4
Measure and mark the tile you need to cut using a grease pencil.
-
Step 5
Line your tile up carefully with the fence of the tile saw. Keep your fingers out of the way and gently glide the tile through the blade.
-
Step 6
Squeeze the two sections of tile together as you near the end of the cut so the cut portions don't pull apart and crack the remaining tile. Keep your hands on both sections of tile and pull it back toward you carefully once you finish the cut.
