How to Draw a Cartoon Mouse

Mice are very popular animals to appear in cartoons, so being able to draw a mouse is vital for a cartoonist. If you can draw basic shapes like circles, rectangles and triangles, then you have all the artistic skills needed to draw a cartoon mouse.

Instructions

1. Start with a main focal point of the mouse, like the tip of its nose. This will be a simple small circle. You may choose to completely fill this circle in.

2. Draw the mouse's upper lip from its nose. Draw a line that extends from the top side of the nose in a downward curve, then another one below it from the bottom side. For more character, draw a set of buck teeth below the lip.

3. Add the eyes by drawing them at the end of your top line for the upper lip. They can be whole circles with dots if you want big, expressive eyes, or they can just be a pair of dots.

4. Place the big, circular mouse ears above the eyes. You may wish to draw a forehead directly above the eyes first that will separate the ears. It's up to you to determine how far apart the ears will be.

5. Go back to the lip and draw a line downward from the inside part to form the bottom lip and front of the neck. Draw another slightly curved line down from the ears to complete the neck. Draw the whiskers on the lip near the nose.

6. Complete the body by drawing the torso out from the neck, in whatever shape best fits the character. The legs can be drawn with stick-figure style lines, while the tail would be a single line drawn out from the rear.

Tips & Warnings

• Steps 1 through 3 can possibly be done in reverse, as many cartoonists like to start with the eyes when drawing.
