Keeping Kosher is one of the strictest rules in Judaism. You must prepare and serve Kosher foods with specific guidelines. The main guideline is keeping meat and dairy separate. With so many different types of foods on the market, it may be hard to know which dairy products to buy to ensure you are keeping them separate from meat. There are suggestions you can follow to ensure that you are buying Kosher dairy products.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Read all food labels to make sure you know when you're buying something that contains dairy.

  2. Step 2

Look at the labels on dairy products and look for the word "Kosher." During Passover, more prominent labels will be displayed.

  3. Step 3

Purchase any milk from any U.S. market. The Department of Agriculture follows strict guidelines and these guidelines are approved by Rabbinic laws. Therefore, any milk sold in the U.S. follows Kosher guidelines.

  4. Step 4

Choose brands that prepare Kosher dairy products. Choose Breakstones butter, Fleischmann's margarine, Kraft Philadelphia cream cheese and Crisco shortening.

  5. Step 5

Be careful when buying cheese products because they need to be processed a certain way to be Kosher. You can search for hard, sliced, grated, shredded and cottage cheese on the Internet (see Resources).

  6. Step 6

Buy Kosher brands of coffee creamers, yogurt and sour cream. Coffeemate, Yo Crunch and Breakstones are all Kosher brands.

  7. Step 7

Search for Kosher-brand salad dressings, spreads and dips.
