Creating pipe cleaner penguins is an inexpensive project for winter or any time of year. Pipe cleaners are sharp on the end so this project isn't recommended for preschool-age children and cutting the pipe cleaners may require the help of an adult.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Black pipe cleaners
  • White pipe cleaners
  • Orange craft foam
  • Craft glue
  • Craft eyes
  1. Step 1

Coil a black 12-inch-long pipe cleaner around a pencil. Slide the pencil out and leave the pipe cleaner tightly coiled for the body.

  2. Step 2

Add a white 2 ½-inch-long pipe cleaner to the front of the body by tucking in a bent end near the top and bottom of the coil.

  3. Step 3

Make wings out of two black, 4-inch pipe cleaners. Bend these in half then hook both ends downward. Attach the wings to the back of the body by tucking the hooks into the third coil on the back.

  4. Step 4

Use orange craft foam to cut a beak and feet forms. Attach the beak by inserting it between the coils near the top of the body. Place a dot of glue to hold it. Finish by attaching the feet and eyes with glue.
