Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Learn the best time of year to visit the Galapagos. Because the islands are near the equator, the warm season is from December through May, while the cool season takes you from June through November. The warmer months bring more rain to higher elevations and temperatures range from mid- to high-70s during the cool season and mid- to high-80s during the warmer months.
Step2
Know what you want out of your visit. You may be seeking a relaxing beach vacation or an adventurous hike through the natural wildlife of the Galapagos. It's best to know what your overall plans are as far as snorkeling, helicopter history tours or wildlife hiking expeditions.
Step3
Research tour providers on the islands. By doing a general search for "Tours in Galapagos," you will find such companies as "Discover Galapagos" and "Galapagos Tours" which offer boat and yacht charters for touring. "Natural Habitat Adventures" offers cruise and nature tours for individuals and family members.
Step4
Plan ahead for the weather conditions during your stay. With the dates of your tour in hand, you can log onto any weather service provider and look at the extended forecast for your trip.
Step5
Pack the essential items for your tour of the Galapagos. If you'll be snorkeling, camping or hiking, ask your tour company what they include in your package,\ and then pack accordingly the other items you'll need. Taking the guidelines of the weather in Step 4, bring raincoats if necessary.
Step6
Enjoy your tour of the Galapagos. Ask questions of your guide to learn the historical information, concerning each site you visit, to get the most out of your touring experience.
