Things You'll Need:
- 1 (10-inch) terracotta clay pot with saucer
- 1 (3-inch) terracotta clay pot
- 3 (3-inch) terracotta clay saucers
- 1 (2 1/2-inch) terracotta clay pot
- 1 (4-inch) terracotta clay pot with saucer
- 1 (18-inch) terracotta clay saucer
- 1 piece of sandpaper
- Spray on clay sealer
- Hot glue gun
- Small, smooth stones and pebbles
- Small pump
-
Step 1
Fill a large container with water and soak one 4-inch terracotta clay saucer and one 3-inch terracotta clay saucer in the water overnight. Break off a notch about 1/2-inch in size on the edge of each saucer. Allow the saucers to dry in the sun for at least 24 hours. Once the saucers are dry, smooth the notch with a piece of sandpaper.
-
Step 2
Drill a small hole in the bottom of the 4-inch saucer, large enough to accommodate the water pump hose. Spray all of the terracotta clay pots with spray-on clay sealer and allow the sealer to dry.
-
Step 3
Nest the 4-inch saucer in the 4-inch pot with both facing up, being sure the holes are evenly lined up. Turn the 10-inch pot upside down and glue the bottom of the saucer to the bottom of the pot, with the lip of the saucer facing up and the holes aligned.
-
Step 4
Invert the 2 1/2-inch pot and glue the bottom of the notched 3-inch saucer to the bottom, with the lip facing up and the holes aligned.
-
Step 5
Place the remaining 3-inch pot upside down on the upside down 4-inch pot and glue them together. Stack the pots beginning with the inverted 10-inch clay pot on the bottom and the smaller pots on top of the 10-inch saucer. The notched pots should be lined up, and the un-notched pots will sit on the side of the other pots. Glue all of the pots together except the unnotched pots.
-
Step 6
Assemble the small water fountain according to the directions and put it in the un-glued 4-inch pot. Put the tub through the holes in the pots. Put the entire fountain in the 18-inch saucer and add water according to the directions. The water will run down the notches into the 18-inch saucer.
-
Step 7
Put a few smooth rocks and pebbles in the saucers and small pots that face up.
