How to Make a Felt Pen

Make felt pens as gifts, party favors or for a decorative touch for your desk. Get creative and use anything you can find to make a one-of-a-kind writing tool. This is a fun craft project for children or activity for the family.

Things You'll Need

• Felt
• Hot glue and gun
• Wiggly eyes
• Pipe cleaners
• Pens

Instructions

1. Buy several colors of craft felt at a craft or hobby store.

2. Gather pens from around the house, or buy a few new pens. A plain pen without any attachments works best.

3. Cut a piece of any color felt to fit snuggly around the pen. Trim the felt so it stops before the point of the pen and extend it past the opposite end.

4. Glue the felt to the pen using hot glue.

5. Add craft eyes to the top of the felt, and glue pipe cleaner pieces on for antennas, arms or legs.

6. Make little hats, scarves, spots or any other accessories you can think of and glue them on the felt.

Tips & Warnings

• Cover each pen with a different felt and make a zoo of animals or a family of pens.

• For younger children, use pencils instead. The felt needs to cover the eraser of the pencil.

• Children should never use a hot glue gun by themselves. Make sure there is an adult to help with the gluing.
