Set aside a few minutes amidst the holiday dinner planning and make some creative Thanksgiving pop-up placecards so that each of your Thanksgiving dinner guests will feel like an honored guest.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Card stock or heavy poster board
  • Craft knife
  • Pencil
  • Fine tip marker
  • Colored markers or colored pencils
  • Ruler
  1. Step 1

Use the ruler to divide the card stock or poster board into 6-by-4 inch rectangles. Cut one rectangular card for each guest, and one extra card.

  2. Step 2

Draw a simple pumpkin, acorn or pilgrim hat on the extra rectangle, and cut it out. This will be the pattern for the Thanksgiving pop-up place cards.

  3. Step 3

Fold each card in half, and crease the fold lightly with your finger.

  4. Step 4

Open the card so it lays flat. Lay the pattern on the card, with the top half of the picture above the fold and the bottom half below the fold. Trace around the pattern with a pencil or a fine point marker.

  5. Step 5

Use the craft knife to cut around the top half of the picture. Cut carefully, and don't cut below the fold. Refold the card, and carefully pull out the cut picture, so it will pop up from the card.

  6. Step 6

Write each guest's name on the pop-up placecard, and decorate the placecard with colored markers or colored pencils.

Tips & Warnings
  • If children are making the pop-up placecards, be sure that an adult uses the craft knife which is extremely sharp.
