How to Manage Bookmarks in Firefox

The Mozilla Firefox Internet browser features tools to manage bookmarks. You can save web page URLs with the bookmarks and find them again easily later. Managing bookmarks prevents the folders from getting cluttered, making it difficult to find what you're looking for.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy
Step1
Open the bookmark manager by clicking on the Bookmarks tab on the menu bar. It is between the History and Tools tabs. Select the Organize Bookmarks option. It is the fourth one down from the top of the list.
Step2
Delete links that don't work or you don't need anymore. Erase all of the bookmarks that you have not used in 6 months. You probably will not use these again. Check each link to make sure that it still links to a live web page. You can remove these links by right clicking on them with your mouse. Use the Delete option, which is the third from the bottom on the menu that opens.
Step3
Create folders to arrange the bookmarks. The New Folder icon is the second choice on the toolbar. Name the folder something clear so you do not have to guess what is inside. Limit each folder to 10 links or less. This prevents having too many links to fit on the screen at once. You can drag and drop bookmarks in the desired location.
Step4
Move the folders you use the most often toward the top of the list.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can hit Control-B to open the Bookmarks sidebar.
  • Control-D is the shortcut to add another bookmark.
