How to Find a Job With a NHL Franchise

Most hockey fans toil away at jobs where the only pleasure is caching the paycheck at the end of the month. Well, imagine if a hockey fan could find a job with a National Hockey League or NHL franchise. Given the right job skills and opening at a franchise, a hockey fan could be working in the sport.

Instructions

    • 1

Determine the specific National Hockey League franchise you want to work with. There are currently 30 NHL franchise locations (see Resources).

    • 2

Visit the internet job-listing site to view the various job openings with each NHL franchise. The NHL has a primary Internet site that lists all of the job vacancies for each of their franchises (see Resources).

    • 3

Read the various job listings and descriptions to determine if any match the skills you possess. If you want, apply for the vacancy. If your skills are insufficient, you may want to consider an internship with the franchise as a way to get your foot in the door.

    • 4

Modify your resume and cover letter to include keywords from the job description. Initially your resume will likely run through a computer program that scans the resume for keywords. Therefore, it is prudent to include words and phrases that are in the NHL job description.

    • 5

Register with the Internet job-listing site before it will allow you to submit the resume. You will need a valid email address and the resume and cover saved on your computer in Microsoft Word or another electronic format.

    • 6

Submit the resume and cover letter to NHL franchise for consideration.

    • 7

Call the local NHL franchise and see if you can deliver your resume and cover letter in person. It never hurts to ask, but most franchises do not take resumes in person.
