1
Make a list of potential jobs you would like to do. Look in the classified ads and in online job banks for available jobs in your area. See what kinds of qualifications are necessary for those jobs. You may have fewer barriers than you think.
-
2
List resources available to you to use to overcome any job barriers that remain. These resources might include your family and friends who are willing to help you.

3
Look into community resources to help you get around your job barriers. For example, community service agencies may be able to help you with childcare responsibilities.
-
4
Learn new skills. Even if you are looking for a job that doesn't necessarily require a new skill, the extra training may help you land a job. If nothing else you should be current on the skills you already possess. Job training can come from local educational institutions.
-
5
Work on your interviewing skills. Make a list of possible questions that a prospective employer might ask. Now compose a list of viable answers.
-
6
Take a positive attitude with you into the job interview. No one wants to hire or work with a person who has a negative outlook on life. Even if you are a pessimist, learn to be an optimist in the work place.
