Step 1
Send out electronic newsletters through email. These newsletters can detail tour information, electronic album information, music download locations and merchandise purchase information. It is best to save people interested in your music to an email list, rather than spam random users.
-
Step 2
Use social networking sites to promote your music. These sites include but are not limited to Myspace, Facebook and Friendster (see Resources below). Through these sites you can not only establish contact with fans but also with other musicians and musical promoters. See the resources section for more information.
-
Step 3
Share your music videos. First, you need a digital camcorder and the ability to edit the video on the computer. You can pay someone to produce your video but with the advancement of technology, it is actually not that hard to compile the music video yourself. After making the music video to promote your music you can then share it on a site like Youtube, Myspace or Bightcove (see Resources below).
-
Step 4
Start a blog so that you can update your fans about music and concert information. These sites can offer you a personal promotional tool because a blog is about your musical life and the day-to-day happenings with you and your music. Some popular blogging sites are Myspace, Blogger and Wordpress (see Resources section for more information).
