How to Keep Investors Happy

When a person is operating a business that has investors, keeping them happy is part science and part art. Since there is no way to keep every single investor happy, an individual should concentrate on keeping the most investors happy as possible. With a few easy steps, any company or individual can keep a majority of investors happy.

1. Broadcast positive news as often as possible to keep investors happy. Send out flyers, emails, press releases and company newsletters to the investors whenever there is good news. Be careful not to overload the investor with good news, because if you inundate the investor constantly with good news, it will cause the investor to have unrealistic profit expectations.

2. Invite the investors to all company events. If the investors notice a grand opening or holiday get together that they received no invitation to, it can cause ill will towards the company. Most of the time they will not show up to the event; however, the investor will appreciate the invitation.

3. Create a password-protected investor relations web site to give the investor greater access to company documents. This way you empower the investor with access to information you control. It is a win-win situation.

4. Share bad news readily with the investor. One way or the other the investor will eventually find out if there is negative information about the company. If you are not honest and open with the investors, it will make a bad situation much much worse.

5. Ask for input from the investors to keep them happy. Whether it is at shareholder meetings or through an investor relation email address, you need to value the input from the investors. If they feel wanted, it will make for a happy investor.
