If your friend or loved one happens to be a dedicated home crafter and you're scrambling to find the perfect gift, consider buying a few choice crafting books for your favorite home crafter to inspire and enlighten them all year long.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Figure out where their crafting passion lies. There are tons of crafts out there, from scrapbooking and knitting to altered art and paper crafts. Scope out their latest creations or find out what type of jewelry they are into making before you go looking for books.

  2. Step 2

Go online to a website like Amazon and search for the crafting category that you need (see Resources below). Look for bestsellers in that category, and read customer reviews to find out how the book was received. Make sure that the book itself was recently published and is relevant to the topic. For example, if your gift recipient is a middle-aged who is into polymer clay jewelry, a children's book written ten years ago about adding glitter to polymer beads might not be helpful, whereas a new release book about polymer clay effects might be more useful.

  3. Step 3

Look for craft books that also come with kits, especially if you aren't sure about the specific crafts that the person you are buying for is really into. This opens up your options so that you can pick any craft that you think the person might like. Pick kits with all of the necessary supplies and consider buying them an additional book on the topic to go with the first book/kit combo.

  4. Step 4

Use your best judgment. There are a myriad of craft books out there, and so choosing randomly isn't your best bet. However, if a person is into crafts, they probably like more than one kind and would be open to learning about new and fun things to create, so when in doubt, go with what catches your eye and don't worry about the rest.
