Now that your first date is coming to an end, you've either got to find a way to secure a second date or convey the message that this will be the last one. Consider these tactics to express your feelings and ensure you get what you want.

  1. Step 1

Bring up any touching moments, inside jokes or memorable discussions you had throughout the night to remind him of how well you got along. If you find yourselves having a great time on the date, go ahead and make plans to go out again to avoid the end-of-date awkwardness.

  2. Step 2

Indicate that you'd love another date by suggesting a related activity for your next get together. If you just saw a movie about baseball, for example, propose going to see a game in person sometime.

  3. Step 3

Study your date's body language to decide if she's receptive to a goodnight kiss. If she's got her arms crossed, digging her keys out of her purse or says goodnight and opens her door before you can make a move, it should be clear that she doesn't want you to.

  4. Step 4

Tell your date you'll call her only if you truly intend to. If you don't, just thank her for a nice time and leave it at that. Conversely, decline immediately if your date mentions seeing each other again when you'd rather not. Even giving an excuse is better than stringing someone along.

  5. Step 5

End the date early if it's really unbearable or if your date is nothing like he seemed to be when you first met him. Tell him you forgot about an important appointment or even ask a friend or family member to come pick you up if you'd rather he didn't drive you home.
