How to Make Handkerchief Bunnies

Since handkerchiefs are rarely used for their original purpose, you can pick them up at garage, yard or rummage sales. Find pretty ones to turn into handkerchief bunnies to give as gifts, or use them as decorations in spring or during Easter celebrations.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Iron a handkerchief and position it on the table so it looks like a diamond.

  2. Step 2

Lay a line of stuffing horizontally from point to point, then fold the handkerchief in half so the top point of the diamond meets the bottom. Your stuffing should be laying along the fold line of your handkerchief.

  3. Step 3

Take the bottom point and roll it tightly toward the stuffing. This creates the body of the handkerchief bunny. Roll the entire handkerchief into a log shape, then fold it in half.

  4. Step 4

Tie a ribbon around the folded log at the mid-point.

  5. Step 5

Tug one section of the rolled log open. Tie the ribbon around it so there is a small ball-shape for the bunny head and two points of the diamond you can tug apart to form the bunny ears.

  6. Step 6

Glue a small cotton ball on the back of your handkerchief bunny's body to make the cotton tail.

  7. Step 7

Adhere googly eyes from a craft store to the head of the bunny if you so choose.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use washable adhesive when putting on the eyes and cotton tail so you can return the handkerchief to its original state by simply washing it clean.
