People all over the world use many different types of technology for pleasure and also for business purposes. Technology can be very expensive but there are ways to cut some of your technology costs.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Plan your technology project or tasks. Use a software package specific for this purpose such as Microsoft Project. List all aspects of the project or task including the hardware needed.
Step2
Do the research to see what type of technology best fits your needs and where you can get the best price. With technology there is always a number of ways to accomplish the same thing.
Step3
Speak with vendors in your area. If you have established a relationship with one vendor or plan to purchase most or all of the equipment through one vendor you are more likely to be able to secure a deal.
Step4
Ask the vendors if they off any special rates such as non-profit, government or educational pricing. Your company or organization may fall under two different categories and you can take advantage of the lowest rate.
Step5
Apply for grants. This takes time but it's well worth it. If you are a small business, sometimes you can receive grant money for technology to help get you started. Targeted organizations such as non-profit organizations and schools receive grant money distributions without much effort.
Step6
Negotiate any work that requires bids such as technical consultants, security expert or a project manager.
Step7
Re-negotiate contracts such as maintenance contracts for switches, routers, spam and internet filters, T1's or any other equipment for which you are paying an annual maintenance fee.
