Street jazz dance is an art form that requires a special shoe, although you aren't limited to wearing these comfortable sneakers when you are doing street jazz dancing. Picking a street jazz sneaker is not as simple as picking out a pair of dress shoes. There are several factors that help you find the perfect footwear for your demands in street jazz sneakers. Here are some things to consider before buying your next pair of street jazz sneakers.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Choose an appropriate color. There are many colors available for street jazz sneakers. You may choose a complimentary color according to dress. Also, consider what dance partners will wear, if you plan to actually use them for jazz dancing. Consider a neutral color like black or white if you'll be changing your uniform or costume frequently.

  2. Step 2

Test each street jazz sneaker for its weight. This particular type of shoe should be lightweight to allow for a full and quick range of motion. Choose a sneaker that feels lightest or shows the lowest weight on the box.

  3. Step 3

Find a shoe with good medial and lateral support. A strong sole and stiff heel will keep you from suffering unnecessary injuries because of your street jazz dancing.

  4. Step 4

Practice some basic moves while trying the shoes on. Feel for the spring provided from the soles. To perform the demanding moves of street jazz dance your feet need all the help they can get and a springy shoe is a step in the right direction.

  5. Step 5

Decide between a slip-on and lace-up shoe. While this may look like a style and comfort point, there are deeper implications considering your routine. You may be changing outfits that may lead you to have to quickly change out of your new shoes. If so, a slip-on model will offer you excellent speed of changing.
