How to Set up a TV Sky Digibox

You have run the wire and it's time to set up your Sky Digibox satellite dish. Setting up a satellite dish to receive data from a geosynchronous satellite is a simple task that you can complete in the morning and spend the rest of the day watching TV.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

1. Find a location that gives you a clear view of the sky, considering possible changes in foliage during the year. The traditional placement is on a rooftop. However, any clear area can work.
2. Mount the dish loosely so it can swivel until it has been fine-tuned.
3. Align the Digibox dish to 28.2 degrees east to make contact with the required Astra 2d 28.2e satellite. This satellite is in geosynchronous orbit so the exact compass bearing differs for every location and will be available from your supplier.
4. Use the remote control to check on signal strength by pressing "Services" then "4" and "6" which will bring up the signal indicator. Placing the TV where you can see it from the dish or with the help of a friend, fine tune the dish with small movements. The display will register "0" when first activated.
5. Continue tuning until the display reads "0002" for the network display and "07d4" as the transponder stream. The lock indicator will also change to "OK."
6. Clamp the dish in place and click the "Backup" button three times on the remote control. Once the Digibox has finished loading verify that you're receiving static free picture and sound.
7. Tune the connection by moving the dish in small increments. Once you have a perfect picture and sound, clamp it down securely. Ensure the dish doesn't move or sway, allowing you to keep a consistent picture.
