"How to Expand Love" is the title of a book written by the Dalai Lama and refers to seven things a person can do to be more loving. In addition to reading the book, a person wanting to expand love may benefit from the following ideas developed by other spiritual leaders and self-help experts.

Instructions

Difficulty: Challenging
Step1
Do loving acts. In many cultures, love isn't something a person feels as much as it is something a person does. Instead of waiting to feel love for others, do the things a loving person would do. The feeling will follow your actions. Read more about this idea in books by David Reynolds, who has helped to develop a way of life called Constructive Living.
Step2
Read about the rewards of serving others in books written by Mother Theresa, a Catholic nun who devoted her life to helping the poorest people of India.
Step3
Watch the documentary film "The Secret" and read the book of the same name. Although many feel that it espouses a magical Law of Attraction that will help you get what you want, it's actually about a way of thinking and behaving that can help you realize your goals, including that of becoming more loving and receiving more love from others.
Step4
Read books about how to become more loving in your marriage or primary relationship by reading any of the many books available on the subject.

Tips & Warnings

  • It's not necessary to become a Buddhist in order to follow the teachings of the Dalai Lama and other Buddhists. Some forms of Buddhism can be viewed more as a philosophy than a religion.
