How to Use MySpace Comments Effectively

Leaving comments on other people's MySpace pages is your opportunity to network and even catch the eye of that cutie on your friend's page. To make the most of your comments, be intentional and authentic in what you say and how you say it. Your own comments section is a place others will look to see what your friends are saying to and about you. Monitor these comments carefully.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Know that others are reading the comments people leave on your page. Some will go to the other person's page to see if you left a reply. You've probably done it, too. It's just too intriguing sometimes to not try to snoop and see what's going on. Keep this in mind: Whatever you've done on MySpace, someone else is doing.

  2. Step 2

Leave only messages on other people's pages that you're OK with everyone reading. It doesn't really matter if that person has her page blocked to the public; all of her MySpace friends can see your comment. If it's personal, send her an email by clicking "Send Message."

  3. Step 3

Represent yourself well and consistently in how you leave comments. Think about the future a little. You don't have time to go into every page and delete the comments you wished you hadn't left. Express any impulsive emotions in another format, not this public venue.

  4. Step 4

Delete any comments from others that you don't feel comfortable having everyone read. You don't need to feel bad about deleting them. If you receive a lot of these messages, go to your settings and set up your page so that you have the option of approving comments before they hit your page.

Tips & Warnings
  • When people post graphics and videos in your comments section, it can change the layout of your page and make it more difficult to read. You can disallow all HTML postings if this bothers you.
